Points about Re-embroidery

Love Your Cotton Quilts!

Another tattered piece of that
wonderful plaid.

The embroidery thread here is quite frayed and broken.

Same Red-Under, Crepeline-Over technique was
used to stabilize, protect, and preserve the plaid.

Here, some of the re-embroidery has been completed.

Notice the groups of 4 holes where the original embroidery was stitched in the adjoining piece.

Using the same stitch holes when re-embroidering avoids making new needle-holes which could weaken the fabric.

Picture on left is restored area.

Inset on right is a printed picture of the same area before restoration.
Use red tie-stitch for orientation.

Red underlay supports the plaid and hides those holes. Re-embroidery used the original needle-holes.
